Fishing in Arenal Area?

I'm interested in a half-day fishing trip in this area for 2 people under $200. I know the two options are within the lake or river fishing in or near the Cano Negro refuge. Does anyone have any experince or info they like to share?

Thanks,

Ken

you can organize a trip through most of the tour agencies in la fortuna:

i caught some kind of freshwater bass and they cooked it at las nenas for USD5.

The only tours I have seen advertised are a half day for $150 and a full day for $275 or so.

Does anyone know of any more economical way to go fishing? I have looked at several sites and they all seem to be selling the same tour for what seems like a pretty high cost to me.

Thanks!

Yeah, I came to the same conclusion. While I expect to pay about $150 for a day tour, I'm surprised I can't find more options. You read that the Cano Negro has great fishing, but there seems to be little info online as far as available charters. I guess it will have to involve talking to the locals.

I know there are some rivers in the area but don't know if you need a license, etc... If anyone knows of any other fishing info, it would be helpful.
