First Vacation!

My message...My boyfriend and I will be planning our first big vacation together for our 4 year anniversary! I would greatly appreciate any information and tips. We live in the US and we are in our early 20s. We like to have lots of fun, but still have time to relax and enjoy the beach!

We are planning on going sometime in June 2016. I am looking for recommendations for resorts in places like Punta Cana and Cabo. Also, it has to be an all inclusive resort.

Could someone also explain to me how surcharges work? I would like to stay away from huge charges.

Here are some things I would like the resort to have:
-multiple restaurants
-swim-up pool bar
-nightlife
-variety of alcohol
-adults-only
-excursions (like snorkeling or beginners scuba diving)

I think you will find more of the kind of thing you describe in Cancun (or Playa del Carmen) than in Los Cabos.

There are many resorts that offer what you want. We need a budget in order to help you further.

I would like to stay at 1,200$ or less per person! I am up for other places. Just want to learn more before picking a place and resort.

Which all inclusive resorts would you recommend in Playa del Carmen?

Also, I would like to add that the beach has to be right by the resort, so that we can walk onto it.

$1200 or less per person for how long?

I think we will end up doing 6 or 7 days

If that price includes air it might be hard to find an adults only all inclusive. Adults only resorts tend to cost more.
Look into the Valentine Imperial Maya, Excellence Playa Mujeres, and the Royal Playa del Carmen. I'm not sure they will fit into your budget though. The Catalonia Royal Tulum might fit your budget, but it is a quiet resort...not much night life, etc.

Here is a good link for AI resort vacation packages on the Caribbean side.

Sorry can't help with a specific recommendation on that coast because I always go to Puerto Vallarta (or Cabo) and never stay all-inclusive.

I'd look into Isla Mujeres, Playa Norte is fantastic and very calm and shallow, or maybe Akumal for good snorkeling and nice beaches. I would not do AI on Isla Mujeres though, too many good restaurants in all price ranges, over 100+
