It would help to know in what area you want to spend your time. In the Copper Canyon area I can recommend either our guest house in Urique or Don Bush's guest house in La Bufa. Here are the URLs: http://www.casalacancha.com/
http://www.homestead.com/entreamigos/home.html

Would like to suggest Isla Mujeres. A small island about 10 miles off Cancun.
Safe, inexpensive, laid back and virtually no spring break scene. Kids come there but it is to get away from spring breakers. It also has great beaches and some snorkeling. We go to the island twice a year for two weeks and keep up a 20 page brouchure that tells you about everything you would need to know. Just e-mail us if you want a copy. Kitchen is not a problem if you decide to go just e-mail us and we will give you some suggestions. Also please visit isla-mujeres.net
Dan and Ginny
dan

You need to give people more info about you, your family than just visiting during Spring Break.
What are you looking for? Beaches and water oriented activities? Historical cities, museums, large city, shopping, cultural activities?
Perhaps others will give you suggestions other than the self-promoting responses you have received so far.

My family really like Oaxaca. It is in the mountains as opposed to the beach. Lots and lots of interesting cultural things to see. Try looking on the net for information. There are lots of apartments avavilble as well as hotels in all price ranges.
Come on down to San Miguel de Allende! Rent a house, take Spanish and art lessons or just soak up the unbelievably beautiful colonial architecture and history. Day tripping includes Pozos, Guanajuato, Atotonilco, Delores Hidalgo. Get on the web and check it out...San Miguel de Allende is a gem!
