You want to look at the resorts on Medano Beach. This is the safest, swimable beach. Look at Villa Del Arco, Villa Del Palmar, Pueblo Bonito Blanco & Rose, Hacienda, Casa Dorada, Las Cascadas.

There are very few swimmable beaches in Cabo San Lucas, so your search really isn't that overwhelming in choices. Someplace on Medano Beach (as mentioned above, swimmable, closest to downtown) would be my pick.

I like being walking distance to the fun downtown area (Marina, Paraiso Mall, main boulevard with clubs, restaurants, shopping).

Some of the resorts out on "the Corridor" -between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas- are swimmable, most not. So check carefully if you're considering those resorts.

You might consider the La Paz area with great beaches & the very swimable Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California).
Very Mexican & most reasonable.
