Final itinerary - Buenos Aires/Mendoza, comments?
 

We are in the process of finalizing our itinaray thanks to Isabel!!

Posting it here in case anyone has suggestions....

We like hiking, biking, wine tasting, markets, photography, people watching, eating.....

Thurs, Dec 25th
- Fly out of Boston late afternoon

Fri, Dec 26th
- Arrive in Mendoza at 11:00AM
- Meet Isabel for light lunch
- Spend the day relaxing/napping at Microhotel $ARG 330.+ 5 %
- Fly to Mendoza 8:00 PM
- Dinner at Canvas Wine Lodge 10:30 PM

Sat, Dec 27th
- Complimentary cooking class at Canvas Wine Lodge.
- Relax, maybe book a spa service
- Leave the lodge to have dinner at Club Tapiz’s restaurant.

Sun, Dec 28th
- Bike ride (with guide) through Mendoza vineyards, stop for a picnic lunch – guide & lunch $100
- Special dinner on our room terrace – Cavas Wine Lodge

Mon, Dec 29th
- Hike with Pedro Rosell, Discover The Andes www.discovertheandes.com
- Dinner at Canvas wine cellar

Tues, Dec 30th
- Visit Mendoza wineries

- Maybe take a bus to Colonia and explore for the day….

- Open for shopping, exploring
- Fly home 23:00 (leave for airport 19:00)

It's a nice itinerary, a little busy imo. I would have spent the 1st night in BA (we always do) and then take a flight the next day. But, we like to relax after flying for 10 hours and give ourselves a break from getting on the next plane.

Instead of the day trip on the "buquebus" which is actually a fast ferry to Colonia, I would look into taking a day trip to Tigre, especially if you're doing the Tango show that night. The "day" trip to Colonia is a long day.

We loved Mendoza, we also stayed in the "burbs", rather than downtown, and had dinner at Club Tapiz one night, it was very good.

Hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did. We're going back for a third time in March....you could say we're a little hooked on AR.

R u arriving in BA @ 11AM on the 25th? Then flying to Menodza that evening at night?
I assume u all are big wine people? If not, I find that seeing 1-2 wineries usually does it for us.

Sounds like a nice itn, but I agree with owlwman in that I like a little more open time to do what strikes me in the moment rather than having lots of pre planned activities.

I love Argentina, just got back from our 2nd trip and already mentally palnning the 3rd! Have a wonderful time.

Our original plan was to stay a few days in BA and then fly to Mendoza, but because we waited so late to book and because it's a holiday week, I couldn't find a hotel for four consecutive nights later in the week, so we are having to suck it up and fly same day. We have 8 hours or so between flights, so Isabel arranged a hotel for the day so we could nap.

Tigre sounds like a better plan (Isabel suggested this too).

Would love to hear about your favorite restaurants in Mendoza and sights in BA. I have tried to take notes of everything I have read here but there is sooooo much information!!

Personally, I loved Colonia (so much, we stayed for 4 days!). It would be a long day but is worthy of consideration here is a link yo our blog with a few photos.

We haven't been to Tigre yet but are looking forward to going next Sunday.
We went to La Cabrera a couple of days ago. A great choice, it was excellent one of the best we have been to in Argentina - dont eat the day you go, the portions are massive!!
A good old fashioned parrilla restaurant in Mendoza is La Estancia de Florencia

I just want to thank adnil for posting this message. We are going to be at Cavas this week, and thanks to your post I ended up booking a private cooking class, which I didn't even know was an option. I hope you enjoy your stay there, I know we're looking forward to it!

Francis Mallman 1884 was the best restaurant I have ever eaten in, period. We went twice while we were in Mendoza - it is THAT good. Club Tapiz is good too - the property is very pretty. You should try to have lunch at Zuccardi - that was our favorite thing we did in Mendoza. Don't forget to relax!!! And eat lots of steak for us at La Cabrera - it is by far the best restaurant in BA. Have an amazing trip - it sounds phenominal and I am jealous having just returned from BA!

La Cabrera ROCKS!!! Crellston is correct-the portions are HUGE - like a steak is about 20 ounces for ONE PERSON so if you can maybe share a steak and then get something a little different to share as well. It's the best steak in the world!!!
