Ferry El Tigre-Carmelo

Somebody asked about the boat between El Tigre, Argentina, and Carmelo, Uruguay. There is a boat twice a day, with connecting buses to and from Montevideo and downtown Buenos Aires. (Colonia is close to Carmelo, less than an hour on the bus.) Fare is US$12 for the boat, about another $6 for the bus to Montevideo. Web page:

I wish to know more about this boat catamaran, betweeen El Tigre, Argentina and Carmelo , Uruguay. Has anyone taken it. Is the ride interesting, how long does it take? Thank you

Now I know more, it is a good choice to go from Tigre to Carmelo, but an unnecessary long trip to go from Tigre to Montevideo. A friend took it, she told me that everything would be fine except for the prevailing lack or organization, they loose valuable time in the departure , which is ill organized and this drove her crazy....I wish the could organize themselves better.

i have walked many mornings by the Tigre terminal of this ferry, it could be such a nice thing to do but from what I have seen and from the first hand experience of a friend they should improve the organization , should do things faster, better, avoiding unecessary long ,tedious lines. I am sure it can be done, I am saying all this hoping they will wake up one day and leave the culture of long lines.
As an observer I am I amazed how Argentineans are exposed so very often to the inefficiency of some services that are better provided in other countries. they do not deserve this state of affairs.
