felony record -passport?

Would like some info on how much trouble is there in getting a passport

Depends upon which country you are from, but in the majority of developed world countries commiting most crimes would not prclude you from obtaining a passport unless the person was released from prison on parole/license.

Forget to mention the person had a drug related felony and was from the USA

I think a Drug Felony from the US is going to make things tough..

Also, getting a Visa to another country might be impossible with a felony record.

Do you have court discharge paperwork indicating your rights have been restored and all your obligations have been taken care of? One would think once you are completely off the hook you would be able to travel.

Have you contacted the county of conviction to ask if there is any issue with you leaving the country? Have you looked at the on-line passport forms and website to try to determine if you would be eligible?
