February in Cabo

We are planning a trip to Cabo in February. I was there in December a few years ago and it was a little cool and windy. Can anyone tell me if I can expect the same for February? Or maybe Puerto Vallarta would be a better choice for weather? Thanks.

Jackie, <BR>We have been to both and would only return to Cabo. PV was dirty and the brown foamy crud floating in the water was a real turn off! We love the Manuel Antonio area of Costa Rica. Great beaches, great national park, monkeys, sloths, iguanas, great food and a little bonus ** you can drink the water **. I am not a TA tring to sell ya, just an honest op.

Check out Cabo.. they seemed to have been devastated recently by a storm. roads destroyed..

Cabo needs to recover first. The roads are often out, and although water and food supply seem to be safe, this is done at the expense of the surrounding communities. Some surrounding villages are on a regimen of two hours daily of electricity and water! If you are locked in, just eat and sun. Otherwise, you might like to see Cabo in a year or two when the roads and infrastructure are back. (The town of Cabo San Lucas has been invaded along the waterfront by new government-sponsored 4-story buildings which are nearly empty but are supposed to contain shops. This destroys the local harbor for anyone who'd like to see a gentle transition from the old town on down to the water.) See posts elsewhere on this site for more description of Cabo conditions. It's too bad...the people are wonderful. We wish them our best, and a speedy recovery. Still, tourists deserve the facts and these are not plentiful regarding Cabo conditions right now.

I just returned from Cabo San Lucas and will never go back, not only to Cabo but to Mexico. Don't drink the water of use the ice - you may be sorry. Outside the compound of the super duper hotels with much show and little substance is a poverty stricken little fishing village that I suspect was better off before the Mexican government come in to make it a tourist location. If you want to do fishing go to Mazatlan as the facilities and prices will be better. Cabo is a place you want to go if you want to drink yourself silly in a dirty, overpriced, rundown bar - not much else there.

Gee Mike, I thought I was the only one who felt that way--Mexico is not my idea of a vacation. Jackie--I would return to the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar in Cabo for a few days--very "American" in that you could drink the water and eat the food without getting sick--lovely pools. I would not expect hot weather in Cabo, however. If you are set on Mexico, head even further south to Acapulco or Huatulco.
