Favorite Restaurants Puerto Vallarta

I know there's a thread somewhere with a list of peoples' fave PV restaurants (seem to remember one specifically from Suze), but I can't seem to find it. I'm leaving on Friday for a 5 night stay in PV, staying at Dreams due to a good deal. I'll probably eat breakfast at Dreams, but will have a lot of lunches/dinners out (I hope). Some restaurants already on my list are:

Red Cabbage
Marisco's Polo
Barcelona Tapas
Joe Jack's Fish Shack
The River Cafe
Cafe Roma
El Arrayn (which I went to in 2007 and really enjoyed)

Am I overlooking any favorites? I eat fish and vegetables only, so my interest would be primarily in seafood.

I know & enjoy most of your list as mentioned: Mariscos Polo & Joe Jack's (both definitely!), The River Cafe for more upscale, Cafe Roma for casual. Haven't been to Red Cabbage in a number of years but used to love it there. Never been to Barcelona Tapas or El Arryan so can't comment on those.

You might want to add Planeto Vegetariano to your list? For an all vegetarian place.

La Piazetta on Olas Altas is a patio restaurant just off the sidewalk, Italian food, that I have always liked.

Red Cabbage is still excellent. Another we especially enjoy is Bolero on the Island. Lovely setting, excellent service plus very good reasonable food.

Great...thank you both for the tips!

For another up-scale Trio on Guerero # 264.
For economy, without the ambiance
La Ronda on Aquiles Serdan #372, closed Mondays
Cólera for great seafood at a low price Lázaro Cárdenas ##542, just before Camachin and the Municipal Market. Very LOUD Jukebox, guess that's ambience :)

Thank you, Cabron. I ate at Trio in 2007 and loved it! I'll put the others on my list of possibilities.

my daughter is insistent that i mention Pepe's, an open-air,
4pm-4am taqueria. the kids snuck out every night with their pilfered change (aka "the Pepe's fund") for tacos al carbon or al pastor, especially with tocino (bacon) or pina. she's right....YUM!

Definitely try Hacienda San Angel in the hotel by the same name. It overlooks the bay with fantastic views, ambience and food. Reservations are a must. Go early and have a drink in the beautiful lobby. Upscale.

Also Hacienda San Angel is very expensive, just a heads up.

Thought I should come back and report since you were kind enough to provide me with some advice!

Sadly, dining out wasn't in the cards for me during this trip. My fellow travelers preferred to stay put at Dreams (where food was included) versus going into town. I did manage to get them out for one lunch during our 5 night stay, and we ate fish tacos at Daquiri Dick's (who, by the way, had the best margaritas we had during our trip).

On the day of our departure, their flight was earlier than mine. So I headed to La Palapa for a big/leisurely lunch of more fish tacos. I loved sitting with my feet in the sand during lunch, and the service and food was excellent. I'm not sure I could return, though, as the beach peddlers were awful. I was an easy target sitting in the tables immediately in front of the restaurant, but they even went up to the restaurant railings to try to sell their goods. I'm sure I said "No, gracias" 150 times (easily). It really spoiled what otherwise would have been a lovely lunch.

There's always next time!

For Puerto Vallarta dining I'd recommend checking out the Vallarta Lifestyles' Readers Choice winners: http://www.virtualvallarta.com/puert...s-choice.shtml

Readers are currently submitting their 2010 choices and I always find this to be a helpful list.
