Favorite restaurants in PV?
What is everyone's favorite restaurant in PV?
|
As posted before The Red Cabbage praised in Gourmet Magazines, High End Travel books & the Budget ones. Fabulous food at moderate prices. Owned & operated by Lola Bravo a bright spot on the PV scene for 30 years. I been going there since '97 when she opened & no one knew where it was. Now you need reservations to assure a table.

We enjoyed Cafe la Olla in the old town. Pipi's and La Palapa were also good.

Thankyou all for your helpfull comments! suze, I once ate in PV at a beatifull romantic restaurant up in the neiborhoods that overlooked PV, It was a very very steep little cobblestone road up to the place. It had open balcoies with beatifull littel tables, and a photographer that took our pic at sunset. Any idea baout what the name of this place would have been?
|
Sounds like Chez Elena in the Hotel Cuatro Vientos. The sunset view is from the El Nido (the Nest) their roof top bar. I stayed there many times over the years.

my first thought was the same as Stew's
up behind the Cathedral in a residential neighborhood? you enter pass a small pool, go thru the hotel, past the 2nd floor restaurant, and on up to the roof? i am somewhat unsure this is correct, because of the way you phrased "open balconies with little tables" El Nido is large a large flat rooftop with a great view. |
This reataurant had two levels to it. On the lower level was a fountain. I never saw a pool or hotel. The upper level was smaller 2-4 person tables on a balocony with wrought iron railing around it, ithink. Very romantic, pricey, but very good. Any tipe for most romantic dining in PV? Also, there was this one little restaurant that made real ceasar salads right at the tableside in ahuge old wooden bowl, any thoughts? Thanks to all of you who take time to reply. -Ben

Yes I'm sure it's the Hotel Cuatro Vientos. The pool is easy to miss as it's small but VERY deep & VERY cold also surrounded by greenery. There is iron railing around the El Nido roof bar. It's in a "L" shape with the bar on the short part of the "L".

Hey thanks Stew! In your opinion is it a great place to dine?
|
It was great but may have slipped a little. I would still rate it a 7 to 8. Gloria is especially good at training her staff. Excellent, very polite service.

Oh, y'all are making me hungry. And envious of my friend who is the one going to PV in late March. I'm doing the research on PV for her. sigh.....
|
I've had hits and misses at Chez Elena food-wise over the years. Very pretty setting though. But I absolutely adore El Nido, the rooftop bar upstairs there, and always make a point to visit every trip.
