Favorite Mexican resort???
 

What is your favorite mexican resort...that allows children? It seems there are so many that are adult only, Maroma, Ikal, Royal Hideaway, etc. We would like to plan a great Easter vacation, 4 adults, 3 children, ages 3, 11, and 12 and are interested in any great ideas.

The four seasons punta mita is an incredible family resort, but it's on the Pacific side of Mexico. They had an amazing kids club, so nice we even hung out in the club room at night with our teens.
My very favorite resort is the JW Marriott Cancun, but it may or may not be open by Easter. A great hotel.

We loved Aventura Spa Palace. It was adults-only, but I heard just as many raves about the other Palace Resorts, like Moon Palace. Check out palaceresorts.com

Two excellent ones are Las Brisas i Ixtapa & Las Brisas del Mar in Zihuatanejo. Now strangely they have no connection other than a similar name. The Ixtapa one is very plush & a bit remote with a fairly rough surf. The Zihua one is on the best children's beach in the area. A gentle slope & small waves is the norm. Also a great place to mix with local kids as there is always a youth soccer pick up game on the beach. In addition the Best beach Café in all of Mexico is on the same beach named M J & Ritchies.

Looks like you're looking at very high-end boutique hotels. If so, Esencia on Xpu-Ha beach accepts kids. It's south of Playa del Carmen by 20 minutes. You can find them on differentworld.com.

I really like the JW Marriott in Cancun. Nice beach, great service and food, the rooms are very nicely appointed, the spa is huge and they do allow children.

The Omni Puerto Aventuras also may be worth a look. It's not high end boutique, but this area didn't get quite as damaged as a bit further north, in Cancun, and it looks like it's on a nice beach.

Another vote for FS Punta Mita. Hands down our favorite resort and they have lots of great kids programs, kids meals, so family friendly. However, if you are planning for this Easter, they may well be booked up at many people return there every year for Easter and make their reservations before they leave the resort the year before! We also liked the Acapulco Princess which is good for kids.

We stayed at the Omni Puerto Aventuras for our honeymoon a few years ago and although we enjoyed it immensely, I would not really consider taking kids there. The clientele seemed to be much more geared to adults, and the beach (though beautiful) is rather small.

I forgot to add that you might want to look into the Iberostar chain...lots of things for kids to do there (lazy rivers, wave pools, etc.) and lots of dining options as well.

Royal Hideaway is adults only also and I don't think they are open yet from the hurricane they were badly damaged

The Iberostar Tucan in Playa Car is nice. They have kids programs there that keep them busy. It's an all inclusive. The resort is very tropical and lush and of course the Caribbean water is awesome.
