Favorite Cozumel Restaurants

Do you have any favorite restaurants in Cozumel? We've eaten at Pancho's for lunch twice now and would prefer to make the 3rd time at a different place, preferably in San Miguel area. Restaurant at Chankanaab seems to be closed at lunchtime. Maybe one of the hotels has an interesting restaurant for lunch? Open for suggestions!

We like La Choza, El Moro, Casa Denis(for some things). La Choza and Casa Denis are in town not far from the plaza, I would get a cab to El Moro. There is a rooftop Italian restaurant called "Prima" which is favored by American tourists, we prefer more local type cuisine.

Try the Abuelo Gerardo, just across from the church near the main square. Really nice people who deserve the business. Last time I was there, they gave me a t-shirt. This was after a group of 8 cruise ship employees left without leaving a tip for the 2 waiters who worked the table well.

In my opinion, the best restaurant on Cozumel is LaCocay. In the Corpus Christi neighborhood, expensive and only open for dinner. Any taxi driver can take you there. (reservations advised)

For lunch only? Casa Denis is the best for authentic. We also like La Choza. Although its a bit more touristy, the grilled fish with garlic sauce is wonderful. I don't think that El Moro is open for lunch and I know that La CoCay isn't. Good food and a great view from the poolside restaurant at Coral Princess Resort - 1 mile north of town. Also excellent snorkeling there. Guido's on main street has beautiful enclosed garden dining in the back - wood fired oven pizza, fish and excellent coffee.

Are you just in town for lunch from a cruise ship, Dolores, or are you staying on the island?

TC:

We're just there for a day (cruise). Our 3rd time so we'd like to look for a different place to eat this time.
Any suggestions for what to do there for a day? We'll probably do a similar thing we did last time and that was hire a taxi for the first half of the day and went to the other side of the island looking at all the beaches there. Stopped at Chankanaab first. Shopped in the afternoon. That worked out very well but if anybody has any other ideas, I'd appreciate hearing.
