maryanntex Jan 18th, 2009 09:59 PM

Where will you be flying from?

Graziella5b Jan 18th, 2009 10:28 PM

I like LAN very much. It is a reliable line , with good service and usually has good rates.

Guenmai Jan 19th, 2009 07:30 AM

Personally to BA, I'd take whatever airline is the most reasonable. It's expensive to get there.

I just got back on Dec 28th and as for buying my ticket, I went on line at expedia.com at 2:45AM, and a $559.(base price) round trip airfare, from L.A.-N.Y.-Buenos Aires popped up on American Airlines ($857.20 total), so I jumped on it and was on my way to BA in less than 3 weeks later. All the other airfares were pricing out at around $1500.( base price) and up. I go on line after midnight as the reduced fares are usually programmed in then. Then I can jump on a reduced fare while most people are sleeping. I also go on igougo.com. Happy Travels!

We always fly Continental anyway and found their flights to BA to be fine.
We flew from the West coast a couple of times to BA.. it is a long flight, be prepared for that ..

Guenmai Jan 19th, 2009 01:33 PM

Yes, it's a very long flight. It took me longer to get to BA, from L.A., than when I fly, annually, to Bangkok from L.A.
It's 17.5 hours, non-stop, to Bangkok.

To get to Buenos Aires, I had to fly to N.Y. first, over 5 hours. I was to have about a 5.5 hour layover in N.Y., but my 9:30AM flight out of L.A., into N.Y., didn't leave until around 1:30PM, due to a N.Y. snow storm.

Then after arriving into N.Y., I ended up with a 2.5 layover before boarding the 12-hour flight to BA. By the time I got to BA, I had been awake for more than 32 hours. Happy Travels!

Did you fly to NY for a special airfare?
I have friends in NY who used to fly here by way of Houston but the long flight just wore them out, so they pay more and fly direct.
We flew from Portland Or, so we had to stop in Houston.. with the layover, it was around 17 hours too.
From NY it is 12 I think, Miami is the best in price and flying time.

At least it is a night flight.. (small consolation :- )

Guenmai Jan 19th, 2009 03:47 PM

I flew through N.Y. because that's the routing that popped up on expedia for $559.00 rd. trip.

As for Miami, that's got to be the worst airport in the U.S. I don't know one friend or acquaintance who likes that airport. They always say, " Stay the heck far away from the Miami Airport!"

Once I had to go through it, on my way to Barbados, from L.A. as that was another expedia flight and one that I'd gotten 48 hours before I departed for Barbados.

One of my best friends had just gone to Barbados, through Miami, the month before I had and said that it had been beyond horrendous. It was also beyond horrendous the month after when I had to go through it. Happy Travels!

I don't think it is a bad trip, particularly coming home. Flew United from EZE leaving at 11:15 PM to Dulles. Thru immigration and onto early morning flight into Chicago. Was home by 10 AM.

Guenmai Jan 19th, 2009 07:18 PM

I wish I had had it such an easy flight experience, but it takes a lot of time to get back to L.A. Happy Travels!

Kavey Jan 19th, 2009 11:42 PM

Well, I'd answer British Airways (which was far better than Aerolineas Argentinas, which we flew first time).

But I suspect from your user name you'll be coming from the US!

(Not everyone that uses this board is based in North America, so providing more details with requests like this will likely ensure more relevant responses)

Scarlett Jan 20th, 2009 04:21 AM

You are right Kavey.. that would be helpful :- )
Guenmai, that was some good airfare ! But then, that is what happens.. you get a good airfare but sacrifice somewhere else.. annoying..

Living in BA, I have only heard good things about flying from Miami. Of course, there is a huge part of the population here that goes to Miami frequently, has lived there or has family living there.. and as Kavey says, anything is better than Aerolineas !

Next time see if you can get a stop over in Houston instead.. it makes it a much easier flight.. even though it is still long.

Scarlett- My next stopover will be in D.C. as I have a frequent flyer ticket, on United, and they route through D.C. Happy Travels!

Yes, sorry about not leaving enough info. I am flying out of San Francisco. Thanks for all the info. It makes me want to take a day or two in NYC and fly from there. Or, I could go visit my 102 yr old granny in Houston, then go on from there....

Thanks! Tex

Scarlett Jan 20th, 2009 11:24 AM

Tex, the layover for a day or two is not a bad idea..
We considered it when flying to BA with the dog.. we thought he would appreciate it the most lol ... but in the end, we were not allowed to do it so we flew from Or to Houston to BA..
If you can upgrade your seats, it will make a world of difference..

maryanntex Jan 20th, 2009 05:42 PM

The Continental flight from Houston is easy. Especially good if you can get upgraded. Leaves at night, gets there in the morning. Same deal with the return.

Need help with which airport to fly into BA and which airport in Santiago, Chile? I am taking a cruise to South America with Holland America.

I am trying to book a ticket and realized that it popped up different airports. I need to know which one that is best used. Thanks!

avrooster Jan 21st, 2009 01:13 AM

If it's an international trip to BA you fly into EZE.
