Fastest way from guadalajara to san miguel de allende
I need to find out what is the fastest and most comfortable way to get from Guadalajara to San Miguel de Allende. I hear from 4 hours to six hours. I will be traveling with four adults, and would like a driver if that is quickest. Also, how long does it take to get from san miguel to quanajuato? Is it best to rent a car, take a bus, or hire a driver.

howies,
Both ETN (Lux) and Primera Plus (First Class) have service from Guadalajara to SMdA. ETN currently has two daily departures at 09:00 and 15:15 and typically costs about 25% more than PP.
The PP site is down this AM, so I cannot give you departure times and fares. The trip takes about 5 hours, but is very comfortable.
If a bus is in your plans, do a google.com.mx "mexican bus service" and click on the first thread which has links to all the bus lines' web sites.
You will probably have to get a car/driver in Guadalajara if you go that route as I don't think the "shuttle" services in SMdA would travel that distance, but I'll check if you need.
All the local "tour" companies here in SMdA have vans and drivers for day trips. The GTO. trip is advertised for $39.US pp. It's 96 km and takes an hour +. ETN and Primera Plus also have service to GTO which most use.
Driving yourself in Historic GTO. is ill advised.
