Fantasy Bus Questions

Hola Fodorites!
What do those of you who know have to say about the fantasy Buses themselves?
...are they comfortable or crowded?
...are they air conditioned?
...are they always on time?
...do they let you get off where you want to get off or are they direct only?

I haven't taken one but stayed in Tamarindo and one of the guests arrived at the B&B on the Fantasy Bus -I thought it was a great idea and would sure consider it if we return. He had been picked up in San Jose and taken to where he was staying so it is my understanding they will let you get off where you want. I also believe it was air conditioned. Can't comment on the on-time factor. Just looked like a regular coach bus - not a school bus. Have you checked out the following link - should answer any questions you have. http://graylinecostarica.com/graylinetouristbus.html

Dear dawbydo,
Fantasy and Interbus travel all the tourist routes daily. Both can be found on the net by putting the names in a search engine. They are both air conditioned, but in many places it is not needed. I have noticed them turning it off in high mountains because of the pull on the engine. It is usually cool up there and the fresh air is inviting.

We have few roads, crowded roads and in rainy season, mud slides and rocky roads.... sometimes they are delayed. They leave at the time they plan but occasionally road conditions slow them down a bit.

Please check their websites to see thier pick up policy. I know that Interbus is hotel to hotel. They stop for 15 minute breaks on the trip.
I am not sure about Fantasy at this time.

Every day people call in to make travel arrangements. Sometimes few people and sometimes many. Lately, I have been traveling with 4 or 5 guests.

The websites will show you the type buses they use.

Most routes are $25 ....long ones or difficult ones like Monteverde can range upward to $38.

They go direct except for their scheduled stop. When you book them, you say where you want them to take you. You will be allowed to exit the bus early if you wish. They may have specific exit places they are allowed to stop.

Fantasy has been associated with Best Westerns, so they stop there.
