Family Vacation in Puerto Vallarta

We are thinking of going to PV in July. I need to go somewhere my husband and 16 yr old son can golf; and my 12 yr old daughter and I can shop and hang out on the beach and by the pool. Any suggestions? I'm also thinking about going all inclusive because our teenage son is a bottomless pit when it comes to eating!

Here's an article on golf in Vallarta.
http://vallarta-info.com/golf.html
There a few 'all you can eat' restaurants in town, you might want to reconsider, remember it's hot here and appetites can diminish.

Just how hot will it be in PV in July--so oppressively hot that we won't want to do anything? If so, any suggestions regarding a reasonable all inclusive vacation for my family in a resort atmosphere?

Depends on how hot you consider oppressive. I live in a hot and humid place, so I'm use to it, but others I've met that are not use to it describe it as tiring. PV being tropical, is extremely hot and humid in July, which is not too bad if you plan your days accordingly. Do your more strenuous activities, walking, shopping, etc in the early morning and use the mid-late afternoon for laying around the pool or under a palapa (be careful of the very intense sun) or taking a siesta. It will usually rain a couple of hours in the early evening, which either helps to cool things off or make it more humid depending on your perspective. Sometimes with the rain will come great lightening storms over the bay which will go through the night.

Vallarta golf has come a long way with the opening of 5 new courses in the last 2-3 years....lots of shopping in town..just do your exercise first thing in the AM and you should be fine (golf also)

The June issue of Conde Nast Traveler rated Four Seasons Resort at Punta Mita in their top 10 list for golf resorts. It's about an hour from PV. Don't know any details of costs, for guests only or not, etc.

My husband and I stayed at the Quinta Real Puerto Vallarta this last Christmas and had a fabulous time. It's located right next to the Marina Vallarta Golf Club and guests at the Quinta get golf club privileges. It also has a gorgeous pool and a brand new beach club. If you're interested, I have pictures of the grounds that I can send you if you give me your email address.
