EZE to Buenos Aires to AEP....Help!!!
I am arriving into EZE at 8:45am this Tuesday (Christmas) and have a flight the same day to El Calafate at 2:00pm out of AEP.
My questions: Do I have time to go into town and do a little sightseeing? I'm thinking any or all of the following: Recoleta, Plaza de Mayo, Casa Rosada. Will any of them be open since it's Christmas day? If the answer to either of the above is yes: what is the best way to go from EZE to BA to AEP? Any ideas on where to stash my luggage? I know these questions are nuts, but I was supposed to get into EZE on the 23rd and due to flight delays....that's not going to happen! I've now got 2 days less in BA then originally scheduled and want to try to make up for some lost time if possible :) Thanks!!!! Tina |
Hi chai there are many postings in Fodors regarding your questions. The ways to go to BA and to AEP have been explain once and once again . Do some research and you will see the different answers covering different possibilities.
I guess it is impossible to know exactly how much time will it take to get into town since you would not know if your plane will be on time, so I suggest that the moment you are exiting from customs in EZE you can approach one of the remise booths, Manuel Tienda Leon for instance, and ask them how time it will take you to get into town. THen you can make up your mind, AEROPAQUE very close to downtown. |
Couldn't you just go directly from EZE to AEP and check in for your flight to Calafate and check your
bags? Then, if it looks like you have enough time, you could get a cab at AEP to drop you off to sightsee, and then get a cab in plenty of time to get back to AEP. AEP is very close to the places you're thinking about seeing, so if your flight gets in right on time and if you get through customs quickly and if you get checked in at AEP quickly, you might have an hour or two to sightsee. There is a cab line at EZE with radio taxis. I think that would be the simplest way to do it. |
And if you're running short of time, you might just have the cab drive you by Plaza de Mayo, Casa Rosado, etc. on the way to AEP. At least you'd get a look at these places. Cabs are cheap in Argentina, and going a little out of the way shouldn't cost much.

I like Maryanne's second suggestion...only I would arrange for a remise instead of a cab....tell the remise company you want an hour of extra site seeing time on your way from one airport to another. Plaza de Mayo is outdoors...you can see the National Cathedral, which may be open on Christmas for mass....and the outside of the Casa Rosada....You could also visit Plaza San Martin....the war monumnet and the Clock Tower are outdoors...
Take a guide book with you for background information about these sites.... |
Good advice from maryanntex with the adding of a remise instead of a taxi. This sounds perfect. You can take a remise to aeroparque from Ezeiza check the luggage and then do the sightseeing. You should rent by the hour if possible, the question would be, continue in the same remise all the way? or take two one to Aeroparque from Ezeiza and a fresh one there to go to town or do the sightseen? You can check with Manuel Tienda Leon or the other remises in Ezeiza, only the ones with a booth there, and get a price for the whole deal. Or simply take two. Manuel tienda Leon has a web site with the remise rates.

I suggest RESERVING the remise with http://www.tiendaleon.com.ar/home/home.asp
This is because there may be few remises available on Christmas morning. DO NOT take transportation being offered in the hall of our international airport and most certainly DO NOT take the cabs waiting in line outside our local airport. Have a great time in our country. |
In case my "DO NOT take transportation being offered in the hall of our international airport" is not quite clear, what I mean is that you should NOT take any transportation which does not have a booth where you can PREPAY for it.
