excursions arenal and maneul antonio
We were wondering what excursions are best in Arenal and Manuel Antonio? We want to explore and see everything we should be seeing. We don't horseback ride or bike. Easy hiking is just fine. Also, any tour operators that you recommend?

Trips to Manuel Antonio and Arenal:
You might check out Greyline Tours online but I really think you would do best booking transportation with them and once at your destination, looking for local ideas. Each place has tons of things to do and lots of local guides.

We just returned from Arenal and MA and our tours and drivers (transfers) were arranged through Gaialink and they were wonderful! We did 2 ziplines in Arenal, the one at Arenal Parasio, and the new SkyTrek (which was our favorite)! In MA we did river rafting and a mangrove tour; both arranged through Gaialink. We had a great time!

While in the Arenal area, you can save about $10 per person by booking with the tour companies directly in their offices in La Fortuna (vs. booking at the hotel activities desks). Jacamar (in the Lava Rocks cafe), Sunset Tours and Aventuras Arenal have all been favorably reviewed on this board.
We enjoyed our leisurely Safari Float on the Penas Blancas River (although I believe you may see more wildlife on the Cano Negro Tour), and our walk on the Hanging Bridges. We also had a blast on the Arenal Paraiso zip lines.

"best" of course is subjective, depending on what you'd like to do.
I'd also give a very high recommendation to Gaialink - gaialinktours.com They put together a fantastic low cost trip for us, and there's nothing more satisfying than calls from a local rep during your trip, just to check on you and make sure you're happy.
As for CR activities to think about:
Canopy (zip line)
Suspension Bridges
Horseback Riding
Bungee Jumping
Hiking
Night Hikes
River Rafting
Kayaking
Wind Surfing
Extreme Trek (Mt. Chirripó
Canyoning
Cave Exploration
Mountain Biking
Volcanoes
National Parks
Cloud Forests
Waterfalls
Butterfly Garden
Reptile Garden
Mangrove Boat
Turtle Watching
Bird Watching
Parrots
Monkeys
Coffee Tour
City, Museum, Art
Beach
Golf
Tennis
Spa
Meditation
Casino
Sport Fishing
Scuba Diving
Jet Ski
Surfing
Dolphin Watching
Island Boat Cruises
Snorkeling
Sunset Cruises
more?
