Enjoy Peru/Enjoy Corp. Travel Agency

I just got an e-mail from this travel agency advising me that the airline tickets that they purchased for our Peru domestic flights were paid for but the hotels are not (these airline tickets and hotels were already paid for though my credit card in Feb. '09). The e-mail is asking me to repay again the hotel (?) so they can keep my reservation. I verified with LAN and I was told that our tickets were confirmed/paid for (though the flight sked was changed!). When I called the hotel directly, I was told that the hotel was reserved for us but was not paid for. I have been calling their offices to no avail; I highly doubt that they will respond to our e-mail inquiry either. What would you suggest our option be in this case? Thanks.

Not sure I understand - did you pay for (or think you paid for) the hotel along with airline the first time? If so, has your card been charged? And who is "their offices"? The hotel or the travel agency?

Yes, I paid for the hotel and airline the first time, my cc was charged and paid for. The "their offices" meant the travel agency. Forgot to mention, the travel agency's e-mail also mentioned that once I repay again for the hotel, they will pay the hotel and they will pay me back (????). Two reasons I am posting are: 1) So that fellow fodorites will be aware of this travel agency. Please note that I became aware of this agency through this forum also. 2) possible solution to my situation. The hotel involved is Ramada (across Lima airport). Thank you.

I would not send any more money to Enjoy Peru/Enjoy Argentina or their related agency Apunake. Cut your losses and try to get the hotel portion refunded!!

Immediately contact the Ramada, get documentation from Ramada (written would be good) that Enjoy Peru has not paid for your hotel, protest the credit card charge with your company. Ask Enjoy (email and fax) to either make good on the reservation or refund you that portion the charges. Do not send them more money!!!

Someone else has reported similar problems with Enjoy not paying for hotels and tours as I gather you saw on this forum (or another?)

I would pay Ramada directly. Otherwise I fear you will be protesting two credit card charges.

Here's another report of problems.

Enjoy Peru Argentina and Apunake went belly up...

Report service not provided to your CC company

as fraud for refund...

Thank you mlgb and qwovadis, I started the process of re-reserving my hotel and credit refund. Now, though the plane tickets were already paid for by the travel agency, I am concerned that they might cancel it also, get a refund, and pocket it. Hopefully, fellow travelers will see this posting and avoid future problems. Amazing that the agency is asking me to pay (again) and promise to pay me in the future. Amazing that they are still getting business!

Yes, indeed amazing, because they are hiding from others trying to contact them about missing reservations or even to ask what is happening!

Did you get an e-ticket number from LAN? Then you can double check their website to confirm that you have seats. I would ask LAN if there is a way to make sure that Enjoy Peru cannot cancel the tickets without your authorization.

Thanks mlgb, I did contact LAN and told them the e-mail that was sent to me by Enjoy Peru which detailed their dire financial situation and asked that a notation be made on my record to not cancel and left my contact number and e-mail address. Hope this works as technically, the contract is between LAN/Ramada and Enjoy Peru. Btw, I love your trip report and thought it's great that you traveled solo and had a wonderful time. Keep traveling!

Enjoy has to "suspend operations for a while!"

mlgb, thanks for the url. I also reported Enjoy Corp./Enjoy Peru to Peruvian Tourism/Consulate here in NYC, hopefully, the issues/problems with the agency will be addressed.
