EasyWay Car rental Merida to Cancun

Hi everyone.

I am thinking of renting a car for 4 days in november from Easyway picking up in Merida and dropping off at cancun airport. I've ticked that I want Additional Liability Insurance (ALI), Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Theft Protection (TP), Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)

this comes to $44 AUD per day which is reasonable.

but then there is *Supplement for Extra Protection Cover (EPC) = 0 % Deductible ( + the cost of the CDW). which is $20 . what is this do you know? is it best to "tick all the boxes" and pay the most in case something happens.

seeing the comments on this forums about the not turning up (i've tocked pick up at my hotel in Merida), should I email them the week before the confirm the booking? thank you for your help

thanks. I will keep shopping around as there have been mixed reports. the $100 drop off fee isn't mentioned in the quote, will it be paid on drop off?

I would recommend taking the additional insurance that reduces the deductible to zero.

We did a one way dropoff, picking up from PDC and dropping off at Cancun airport. It cost an additional USD34. We booked on AutoEurope, the cost of the dropoff was not on the website quote, but AutoEurope said they would find out how much the dropoff fee was and let us know, if we felt it was too much we could cancel the booking without penalty. We prepaid so had no headaches with paying anything locally, except for the one way drop off fee.

The rental was with Europcar which was the only vendor that would do a one way dropoff on Autoeurope. They have an office at the airport and they were open 24/7, which was great as we had to drop the car off at 5am. They gave us a lift to the terminal and processed the USD34 fee which we had to pay locally. The signposts were not very good at Cancun airport for car rental return, so we did a trial run the day before in daylight.

Any car that I rent, I always check it over, this is not just advice for Mexico.

If you ticked pick up at your hotel in Merida, then there might also be a delivery fee, as well as a one way dropoff fee, unless your hotel is a recognised rental location.
