Easter Island

My mistake as I posted on the Aust/Pacific branch knowing that it belongs to Chile!
Coming fr Sydney - what would be the cheapest way of getting there & what time of the yr is best?

I reckon it's not an expensive destination for a wk - about 8-10 days but correct me...

Budget is about US$175-180 per day all up. Not fussed about meals but do recommend. Never had a Polynesian meal in my life!

Also, possible to do the Micronesian islands..Chuuck etc. Can't dive but into history, natural fauna, culture sort of thing.

We stayed there 3 nights and thought that 2 would have been enough. But well worth the trip. ((*))

My research of it has turned up very expensive airfares just to get to Easter Island - 1,200 on Lan Chile's site yesterday - ugh!

I guess it's worth any price just to be on the most remote place on Earth.

Let us know if you went yet and it you found a cheaper way to travel there...

There is only one way to get to Easter island on LAN either through Tahiti or from Santiago.

I thought there was also one other airline that goes there - a local Tahiti one - but those are the only two I know of...
