OK. I can't resist - I know this is not what you asked - but

I hope you are aware that you cannot take a rental car across international borders.

If you are taking your own car, there is bureaucratic paperwork at each border that may delay you and may all be different. If you are asking for a road map on this forum, it seems clear that you haven't done a lot of homework. Please check into this thoroughly before you make your final decision.

Hoping that if you are going to do this, you will have an ex-Army Ranger or Marine with you and that you have a plan if you are kidnapped.

You would be so much better off to take an international bus such as the TicaBus.

I know, I know, this is not what you asked but I couldn't resist.

Mr Smith I asked for a route from Costa Rica, to Merida Mexico.
All you came up with is a map of C R. Why would you think I have a rental

The detail of maps of each individual country will probably serve you better than one big map. A map of all Central America will probably not extend far enough into Mexico to even include Merida.

Rather than criticize him, you might thank him for his help. :)

You can also do a Google search to find maps too.

Yvonne~ I see you are brand new to these forums. Welcome. You'll get better information if you are nicer to people.

They probably assumed you were in a rental and on vacation. Because if you lived there, you'd just walk to the nearet gas station and purchase a decent road map for yourself.

My goodness, Yvonne. Being nice is a way of live for many and a necessity for everyone who wants help.
