Driving from Copan to Tela

We are planning a trip to Honduras in June with a 2 year old. Looking to fly into SAP and rent a car, then drive to Copan, spend a few days, then drive to Tela for about 5 days and onto La Ceiba for 5 days. How far is the drive from SAP to Copan and the drive from Copan to Tela. I'm not sure I would rather take a bus with a two year old, with all of the stuff you have to travel with I think it would be nice to be self contained, but I may change my mind. I will be the only driver as my husband doesn't drive.

Also, any suggestions for entertainment for a 2 year old in Honduras... she loves beach and hiking so I think we'll be good.

Thank you!

If it was me with a 2 yo, I'd chose Hedman Alas, a very comfortable busline. I don't think you could drive much (if any) faster. I can't remember the travel times but the Hedman Alas website has all the info - you will have to dig a bit but it's there.

Amac -

Distances are deceptive in Honduras.

Driving time from San Pedro Sula to Copan is 2+ hours. Back tracking through San Pedro Sula to Tela from Copan 3+ hours and from Tela to La Cebia routhly another hour and a half.

If you want to consider bus you will find the Hedman Alas bus line at http://www.hedmanalas.com/

They are highly recommended as their drivers know the roads, they are comfortable, on time +/-, safe and their buses are the big boys on the road.

Enjoy Honduras!

I also took Hedman Alas from SAP to Copan, and it was around two hours. I'm not sure I'd want to drive in Honduras -- the roads did not seem that well marked -- and the buses are very frequent, inexpensive, comfortable and reliable. But, then again, I was traveling with backpack, not a two year old.
