Driving from Central America into South America

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if driving from Central to South America is possible? If so, do you know where the crossing would be. Thanks for the help.

You cannot cross from Panama to Colombia by car, but you can travel by ferry.

Irjones - No possibility of driving across, though a few reckless folks have tried to walk it, many with dire results like never being seen again or being held hostage for estensive periods of time.

Jim_Boo, I'd be interested in what information you have about a ferry crossing. It's been my understanding for years that no such beast exists. On the Thorntree forum a few brave souls have decided to boat across but most fly in spite of the expense. You can ship cars in containers but it's expensive.

Good luck!

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the help. Any information on the ferry from Panama? Thanks again.

Here's a fairly recent thread on the Thorntree forum about the lack of a Panama/Colombia ferry:
