I am interested in the quality of wine, beer, and coffee in Peru. Anyone have any feedback and/or recommendations of the above?

Coffee is great as it is across Latin America. Good wines in the cities and the better hotels in the Sacred Valley. Cusquena is a good local lager. But the best are the pisco sours!

There is also chicha beer. However, you probably don't want any of that. It is made by chewing up corn & spitting out the chewed corn into a bowl. There it is allowed to ferment for several days.

My guide would not let me have any chicha beer or eat any cuy while I was in Peru. I had to settle for the Pisco Sours. Ask for "Pisco Doble".

The Chilean wines are excellent. You will probably be drinking a lot of cocoa tea in Peru if you are going to Cuzco.

Peru has a very small local wine industry centered around Ica. With August's earthquake hitting that region, I'm not sure about damage to the infrastructure. Most of the wines you'll get there are Chilean.

The main drink of Peru (and also CHile) is the pisco sour. VERY good. Tastes like a whiskey sour but better.
