domestic travel on Aerolineas

I have been reading alot of stories on this and other forums about numerous delays and cancellations of Aerolineas internal flights in Argentina. Maybe a stupid question, but does anyone have a sense of on what percentage of flights this occurs? Am I just hearing the bad stories, or are these reflective of the majority of flight experiences on Aerolineas? We have a pretty tight itinerary for travel to and from BA and Salta, and are trying to decide if we should keep our plans and brace ourselves for potential delays, or try to rework everything, which would also be quite difficult at this point! We are traveling in early November.

Well, I checked out the AA website, and see that I have to change my return from Salta anyway, because they have changed the flight schedule. Wonder where our travel agent has been in all this, that I had to find this out by searching the web myself!

This is really disconcerting to be heading out for a much-anticipated trip with such uncertainty. If we had more time on our vacation, it would be a little easier to go with the flow.

Took four flights on AA in early Sept. and two were rescheduled later than when booked. One as about 20 minutes later and the other was an hour later. It is much less stressful to not schedule on a tight timetable. Extra time in Salta would not be hard to enjoy----it is wonderful! Can suggest a great TA for Salta if you are interested.

Last year, AA changed a flight from 10am to 9pm. It was disaster as I got into Lima @midnite, driver waiting but by the time I got to the hotel it was 2am. Laid down for a couple of hours then back to the airport to catch a flight to Cusco [which was cancelled due to heavy rain to 2pm]. Just booked my SA internal air FRI all TAM. TA said AA is better but still struggling. If you can, book something else & it is a critical connection I would, if not, be sure you pull into an AA office somewhere when you get to SA as I did last year to be advised of all of the changes that occured. I would have plan B if disaster does strike. I have read on this board that there have been changes on Lan & other airlines too.

thank you for your replies. CollegeMom, I would love to have extra time in Salta!!! But, we have to now leave earlier in order to catch our flight back to US. Not the smartest travel arrangements, but I couldn't figure out how to fit in everything we wanted to do otherwise. I am set with all my arrangements in the NW, so won't need an agent there, but thanks for the offer.
