Doctor in Oaxaca???

We are hoping to travel with an older friend to Oaxaca at Christmas. He is worried about getting ill, as he did on a recent trip to Europe. Does anyone know of good English-speaking doctors, should he become ill while we are there???? Many thanks.
(I'm "betsyS" but had to sign in with a new screen name under the new system, so I am now "TaconicTraveler")

If no responses here, try throntree forum on lonely planet's website. There are people on that forum who live in Oaxaca and go to the language schools there who may have found such a dr.

Has your friend purchased travel insurance in case of the need to medically evacuate? Insuremytrip.com compares multiple policies that include medical evacuation insurance.

I think the advice about Loneley planet is best to get a name. I can say, tell your friend not to worry. There is abundant medical care there. I have been to doctors there a couple of times and was treated very well. Once there a language school or hotel will provide the name of a doc. if needed, e.g. Becari language school had my daughter at an English speaking doc within minutes two summers ago when she got strep.

Wow, Dude, thanks, that is great to hear. I'm not worried, but my friend is, so i want him to feel comfortable. He even speaks Spanish well, so no problem there.
