Do Pesos expire

I am going to Los Cabos and have some Pesos from 1987. Are they still good? I have one bill that is for 10000. I am hoping it is good!!

Your "old" pesos are worthless.
Light a Cuban cigar with the $10,000. bill, lol.

"Expire" isn't exactly the reason though. Mexico changed currency to the Nuevo Peso quite awhile ago. Yours from that long ago would be the old money.

Before the change these pesos were running about4,000 to a dollar so eventhen not worth much. You could go to the bank witha bit over $250 US leaving with a million pesos! A instant millionare! LOL

The interbank rate today went over 11.5, and when the US Fed raise US interest rates yet again at the end of June, we'll all be ATM/CC wealthy here.
Unfortunately, those with US stocks and bonds, as long term investments, are getting hammered.

Thanks for your responses. I went from welthy to poor real quick!!! CC

oops, I spelled wealthy wrong!! I guess I was tired and upset. I called an international bank and was told I could use the old pesos only in Mexico. I am now confused. cc

Old pesos never die. They just fade away. ((*))

suze Jun 15th, 2006 06:35 AM

Didn't they drop 3 zeros when they went to the Nuevo Peso? That means we're only taking about 10 bucks anyways, right?

mikemo Jun 15th, 2006 09:26 AM

I really sent one ($10,000. old peso note) to a B of A VP, and she lit a Cubano with same.

Okay, You are taking away all of my hope!! Thanks, CC

You won't know until you take them to a bank in Mexico. We had some old money from London and had to go to a bank and they exchanged it.

mikemo Jun 24th, 2006 03:36 AM

blondlady,
They will surely think you certifiable here.
