distance from Zihua to Taxco?

I will be in Zihua for a few days and would like to see Taxco. Is this close enough to go to in the morning, have a few hours there and then get back to Zihua so as to not have to spend the night in Taxco? Is this a common bus ride? How many hrs, cost of the bus ride? Thanks.

From Zihuatanejo there is no direct bus to Taxco.

You may have to take the bus to Acapulco, which is about 150 miles away down highway 200.
Now this bus may or may not stop in Acapulco ,it might just take the turnoff before Acapulco and you start heading toward Taxco with stops at Chilpancingo ( the Capital of Guerrero Province , which you are in).

It is a long scenic drive no matter which way you go.
Also it is a full day trip for sure.
Taxco is the Silver Capital of the world.!!!

When I went went from Acapulco.

But I have been to Zihuatanejo and know the road from there very well also.

Have a good trip.

dont know your itinerary of course but you could consider a stopoff to see Taxco on your way to Zihua from DF or on your return to DF or on your way to or from Puebla or Oaxaca. As the poster above said, no direct route because of the mountains. I sometimes have guests who do Taxco as a daytrip from Cuernavaca since its only an hour and a half, then they take the airport bus to DF.

cuernavacacarolina: I will only be in zihua for 4 1/2 days. Since I will be paying out the nose for a great hotel in zihua I want to spend every night in that hotel. So, that leaves out options for over night stays near DF, Taxco, etc. I'd like to go to Taxco in the morning, shop shop and then come back to Zihua in the evening. Is this possible in any way?

Its possible, but i dont find it recommendable since you will spend quite a few hours on a bus, when you can spend them on the beach.
