Delta to SJO

This is the airline were using to San Jose. Detroit-Atlanta-San Jose. Anyone have any experience with this route?

Not from Detroit (although I did grow up in Mt. Clemens!).

But I have taken Delta through Atlanta from New Orleans several times, and been very satisfied.

Spirit Air is initiating flights to SJO on April 4. They have some great fares, and I know that they fly from Detroit.

Plus, you enter the country in Ft. Lauderdale. The Miami airport (American Airlines) is a zoo, and should be avoided at all costs!

I hope this helps! Let me know if I can offer more advice.

Went Orlando-Atl.-San Jose last Nov. Nothing out of the ordinary. But I find it easy to get around Atl. airport. Flight from Atl to San Jose was about 3-4 hours.

I'm also connecting through ATL (both ways) to get to SJO this May but we're leaving from California. ATL seems to be Delta's hub to the South which I suppose is good since if a flight gets messed up, hopefully, there are more planes headed there and back.

Living in the greater Pensacola area we have to go through ATL for anything we do with Delta, as it's their main hub. The joke around here is that when you die you have to go through Atlanta to get to Heaven. But as Martha said, the Atlanta airport is easy to negotiate.

And, yes, if things get messed up, there are usually more planes going to your destination so they will get you there --- eventually. ;-) That's one reason why I try to take the earliest flight possible out of ATL so there are more options later in the day. Also, the thunderstorms generally aren't really cranking up until in the afternoons.

And Theresa, I answered your question on Tripadvisor about first class, etc. Have a great trip.

fishee, we'll be in CR in May, also. Can hardly wait.

Just did DC-ATL-SJO on Delta from March 10-17. The San Jose flight is in Atlanta's E Terminal, which is very nice -- some shops and one of the best airport food courts I've encountered. They have little trams on a loop between the terminals, so if you arrive in Terminal A (for example) you'll get to Terminal E in no time. Coming back from Costa Rica, the customs area is a very nice, new facility, and clear signs direct you where you need to go for your connection back to Detriot.

fran -- with the weather delays here at ORD we sometimes think we might have already been sent to hell...

thanks for the details everyone -- how was Delta with the carry-on limits? I'm going to try to avoid checking luggage since SJO sounds like a zoo and getting out of there ASAP is our goal.

Delta will allow you one bag up to 22" plus one personal item (purse, etc.) as carryon to SJO.
