Decameron Los Cocos
 

Hi - Will be going to the Decameron Los Cocos in late August. Just want to know if anybody has a review of this all-inclusive resort and what the villiage of RINCON DE GUAYABITOS is like as well. Thanks

Hola from Vallarta...you are going to probably the most beautiful beaches in this area! Of course, you will be quite a distance from Vallarta, but you will have everything that you need at the Royal Decameron. From that hotel, easily accessible to downtown Vallarta by taxi or bus. Lots of construction in front of the airport right now, causing more time involved, but just sit back and relax! Guayabitos is much much further and a nice little town. If you are staying out there....don´t plan on many trips to Vallarta as it is quite a distance. Please email me for further info. Thanks,

Hi - Its me again thanks for the reply PT. How long is the trip to Vallarta from the Decameron los Cocos in Gauyabitos? The travel brochures say about 1 hour. How much is the bus/taxi fare from the hotel - we really would only like to take one trip to the city from our hotel to see the sites. <BR>

We stayed in Rincon de Guayabitos last oct. The town is nice, it's a tourist town, but when we were there most of the tourists were Mexican (I like to get away from the tourists). <BR> <BR>We took a 75 minute bus ride from PV's Central Camionera for 39 pesos ea. to La Penita. Beautiful scenery on drive - the ocean to the left, mountains covered in lush vegetation to the right. <BR> <BR>Behind our hotel, Posada la Mission, we could watch the parade of people on the beach. Lots of Mexican tourists and families swimming in the warm surf, little kids selling bar-b-qued fish on a stick for 15p, various fruit drink stands selling pineapple shells full of fruit and juice (also rum if desired). <BR> <BR>Had great shrimp diablo for dinner at hotel restaurant, El Campanario. Our waiter, Mario, made us deluxe margaritas, from scratch. Our bill with several drinks $15, with tip. <BR> <BR>On Sunday the beach was full of activity. Fishermen pulled their boats up and were selling all different types of fish, shrimp, huachinango, hammerhad shark, manta ray, and Agallo@ fish; lots of pineapple vendors, and a guy who sold us 3 baggies, each containing 12 cooked shrimp and lemon, for 20p. We walked up to the highway and caught a collectivo heading for San Pancho (or San Francisco) for 13p ea. The beach at San Pancho had huge waves. After a good deal of looking we found a collectivo taxi to Sayulita for 60p. This was a bigger town than San Pancho, and we saw a few American tourists for the first time. <BR> <BR>Havd fun!!
