Debit card problems in Mexico

My debit card (M/C) will not work in any ATM in Mexico. My charge card has a damaged strip and nobody will punch the numbers in manually. Has anybody else had this problem. Does anyone have a solution?

Request a new card from your bank or use your credit card. If the card is not scratched, someone once told me that if you rub a static free clothes dryer sheet on it, that you can get the card to work again.

Hope your problems aren't because you have more than four digits in your PIN..

Just take your card into the bank and use it like a credit card to the get cash.

My wife and I were in PV last year and had terrible problems with the atm. Not usefull except at a handfull of locations. Even then limited to $300 per day. Take cash.

Steve: International machines will not read more than 4 digit PINs on debit cards but Canadian banks do. Hence, lots of aggravation for Canadian travellers who weren't warned beforehand. Also, some people use words as PINs and letters may not be included on the keypad so the ATM can time out before you figure out the digits that correspond to your dog's name. LOL
