I'm going to Melia in May (1st time in Cozumel too!) From what I've learned on message boards, Melia is not luxurious, but friendly, comfortable, and beautiful views. (Don't expect Sandals.) I have stayed at these kind of places on my other Caribbean trips, and I'm always satisfied, but I'm pretty easy-going. I'm taking my own snorkel stuff, but they usually have them there to rent. I've heard the snorkeling at the hotel is not good - shallow and sandy beach - but the snorkel tours on the island are inexpensive (I've seen anywhere from $35 to $90) and are worth it. I found some people on message board who will be there at the same time I am who I'm going to join for a 4-hour trip on the reef that includes drinks and lunch, and my share is only around $40. Make sure to get a disposable underwater camera! I hope you have a great time!!

Oops! Sorry, I didn't realized this post was a year old when I replied. My bad. I hope Indy had a great time, though!
