Cozumel in 8 days................ HELP!!!
 

I'm leaving for Cozumel a week from tomorrow and am having a few concerns. Will the weather be ok??? I keep looking at the forcast and seeing rain and clouds. I thought the weather was generally good this time of year. Am staying at the El Cozumeleno and have heard good and bad. Has anyone stayed there in the last few months that can help ease my mind??? Any input, good or bad, would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, I cannot predict the weather, and doubt that anyone on this board can (if anyone CAN, please let me know!;)). <BR><BR>All I can say is, if you hit some rain, try to find some indoor things to do, you can always get a massage, go shopping, hang out at a pub in Playa del Carmen,etc....There's not much you can do about the weather!! I'm sure you'll have a great time....<BR>

I too am leaving soon for Cozumel and was wondering if anyone frequently visits this location this time of year and could offer any insight to the usual weather in this region. Will it be warm enough for swimming and sunbathing????????????

Not to worry I just returned from Cozumel and the weather was great. You may hit a few clouds and brief showers but nothing that will last the whole day. The temperatures got up into the 80's, the water was warm and clear. Enjoy.

Brad:<BR><BR>What hotel did you stay at??? Are the beaches as bad as some people say?

I stayed at the Occidental Allegro Resort on the Southwest side of the island. Very nice all-inclusive, clean rooms, lots of activities, very fun staff, younger American crowd. It is also on one of the best beaches on the island, sandy beach, calm, clear water, fish everywhere (San Francisco Beach). Many of the other beaches on the west side of the island are rocky with little sand. On the eastern side of the island are fantastic beaches that are untouched...but I warn you do not expect calm waters on this side of the island. In fact it can get quite rough and can be dangerous for swimming if you are not careful.

Rob,<BR><BR>We walked over to the El Cozumeleno while we were there during Christmas. We didn't see the rooms but the public areas were looked fantastic. The beach is small there as was it at Hotel Playa Azul where we stayed, which is just before your hotel. At least at El Cozumeleno you are less likely to have all the locals and cruise side trippers taking over the beach like they did at Hotel Playa Azul. That was a real pain.<BR><BR>Go and enjoy!

I returned from Cozumel last weekend and the weather was pretty good, a few clouds and showers but hey be happy you're in Mexico! El Coz looks like a pretty nice place to stay. Enjoy!

Cozumel can be a bit cool and rainy in January. Do take a rain jacket. If you get rain for a day or so, the water can get a bit cool too. All of this is of course relative - cool means 70 -80 degrees instead of 90 degrees air temps, which is a lot warmer than the places most of us are coming from. The water temps cool down and one may not want to stay in the quite as long, but it still feels very comfortable. Even on rainy days you will be running around in shorts and a tee shirt so who cares? Its a great relief from 20 below! Have fun.
