cozumel condos

Has anyone stayed at the Cantamar Condos? How about Las Brisas or Palmes Reales?? These look nice but I'd feel better w/some feedback! Also...we usually rent a vehicle on our vacations....would you recommend this for Cozumel? Thanks!!!

Beth,
Taxis are inexpensive and plentiful on Cozumel, but it will depend on where you stay whether or not you would want to rent a car.
We usually stay for two weeks and rent a jeep for 3 or 4 days. We plan the trip so we can go around to the other side of the island and to sites far from the Presidente on the days we have the Jeep. It only costs $4 or $5 for a taxi into town from most of the hotels, so a car isn't worth it unless you are going to be driving all over the place the whole time you're there.

Nancy,Thanks for the info! Sounds like renting a vehicle for just a few days will be the best way to go.

Yes, Beth, that's what we found to be true. Since there's essentially only one main road on the island, it's very easy to explore the other (unihabited) side which has a few great beach bars/restaurants and makes for a great day. The other side is absolutely gorgeous and wild and most visitors to Cozumel never get to see it.
Driving in downtown San Miguel is a little crazy, (poorly marked one-way streets, hard to find parking, etc.) so I'd avoid that if you can.
You'll love La Isla Cozumel and its people!

Beth, did you ever find any info about Las Brisas? We are also thinking about these condos, but do not know anyone who has stayed there. Thanks!
