costa rica swimming or snorkeling beach

So many beaches, very confusing! Any suggestions about a beach that is good for swimming (and/or snorkeling), and nearby lodging? Must be the Pacific, preferably central coast?

We loved the beach inside Manuel Antonio National Park, but the snorkeling was not good, too much sediment in the water.

If you want to try surfing, Playa Carmen is an awesome beach for playing in the water, body boarding, surfing. it's relatively near Montezuma as posted above. We flew into Tambor and took a taxi ($40) to get to Malpais, near Playa Carmen.

The only snorkeling we've done was in the water near Golfito. We took a boat trip over to the animal sactuary and stopped off to snorkel along the way. Otherwise, I don't know of any great snorkeling spots.

I agree that the beach at Manuel Antonio is quite beautiful.

If you're looking for lodging near Manuel Antonio, check out Buena Vista Villas or Tulemar Bungalows. Lots of other good choices around too depending on your budget.
