Costa Rica Photo book?

Has anyone ever found a good coffee table book of photos of Costa Rica? I have been trying to locate one as a gift, but have not been successful.

Thank you.

Roy Toft has been working on one for the past year or so. It was to be ready next year but after some recent events maybe longer. They do have a big selection of books in all the Cafe Britt stores in the airport, unfortunately I always run out of time before I ever get to properly look thru all of them. I know I'd love to have one too !

My wife purchased a wonderful book on the oxcarts. It is not a photo book of the natural attractions that you asked for. It is a history of the painted oxcart and it's importance in Tico culture.

It covers the origins and how the cart evolved, the breakdown of the designs, local legends, festivals, the oxen, etc. In a way, it is really as much a book on rural Costa Rica then it is about the carts. Each book has text in both English and Spanish. It is beautifully illustrated, and very well written.

I pick it up from time to time, and always find something new. The legends are my favorite part.

We purchased ours in Costa Rica, but I recently was able to find it online. You can contact the author directly at http://www.cartart.info. She will ship to the US.

I hope this helps! Let me know if I can offer more advice.

Warm Regards,

Check out "Costa Rica Parques Nacionales/National Parks" by Mario A. Boza. It has photos and descriptions of 28 different parks/conservation areas with photos and is in both English and Spanish. I was lucky enough to find mine at a used book sale for $5 - I snatched it right up!

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I know there was a book sold in the SAn Jose airport when I left, but couldn't imagine I'd have trouble finding it once I got home. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to purchase the ones sold at CAfe Brit? I've googled, but to no avail.

I really like the Kevin Schafer Forests of Eden. 100 Butterflies and Moths is also beautiful but limited to just those wonderful creatures.

Roadrunner, we saw the same beautiful book at Cafe Britt in the airport, and I'm kicking myself for not getting it.

You should make your own on a book making site. Just google some awesome pictures of Costa Rica and go to town with your book!
