Costa Rica Pacific Beach recommendations needed

Looks like we are headed to Costa Rica at the end of August and the first week of September. After our time in San Jose, we plan on spending a few days in the Arenal area. After that, we'd like to head out to a Pacific beach for a few days. We know it is the rainy season, so where can we go that it won't be too wet? We are looking for something with a nice beach (we aren't surfers, so that isn't a priority), with maybe some activities, wildlife and good restaurants nearby. Ylanylang will be closed for that time period for renovations. Any other recommendations or suggestions? Thanks very much!

Capitan Suizo is very nice and you'll find lots of activities and wonderful restaurants within walking distance.

Thanks for your replies qwo and Linda. I appreciate it very much. I read on this board that someone called Captain Suizo "Captain Sleezo," so I have some reseverations about going there. We are very independent travelers, so not sure the full-scale resort is our style anyway (though ylangylang attracted because of the sheer number of good reports about it on this forum). I will check out the others you suggest for sure. I invested in the Moon guide yesterday and intend to look at their suggestions. Anyone else have any recommendations? Thanks so much.

Check out Sueno del Mar, it gets great reviews, very quiet, removed from the hustle and bustle, with great rooms and fab sunsets. Also check out Sugar Beach Hotel. Good luck!
