Costa Rica: Low Cost horseback riding ideas

Currently in Manuel Antonio. At my next destination, I want to do some horsebackriding for 2-3 days. I am a beginner.

I am looking for a place that costs less than $20 an hour ($15 or less, ideally) to ride with a guide on a trail (or I could even have lessons). I don't care if I have to travel 4 or 5 hours by bus to get there, as I want to see other parts of the country.

But it can't be at the opposite end of the country as I only have 3 1/2 to 4 days to do this, including time to get there from Manuel Antonio and then return to San Jose, all by bus.

Any suggestions?? Leaving in 36 hours to do this part of my trip...

Head over towards San Isidro de General and Chirripo.
Stop at a big farm and ask to ride horses. Tell them you'll pay 3000 colon/hr. ($6). If you want a local bed and some Tico breakfast offer 8.000 ($16). Get away from the tourist areas. No problem.
Look around on Google Earth, and when you get where you're headed ask around.
