Costa Rica: Leaving in 4 days!! Last minute questions about Arenal

Hello!

We are leaving for CR in 4 days! So excited!! Does anyone know which side the lava is flowing right now? (arenal.net was last updated in February...)

We are actually still deciding where to stay in Arenal, between Arenal Paraiso and Arenal Lodge. Arenal Lodge chalets look great but I really don't want to spend ~$15 each taxi ride to get into La Fortuna (for dinner and such), so am leaning towards the Paraiso. Has anyone stayed at Arenal Lodge and have thoughts on transportation, taxi's, etc?

Also, does anyone have any opinions on the canopy tour at Paraiso vs. the Skytrek Arenal Zipline tour? The only comment I have seen comparing the two is that the Skytrek Arenal is slightly higher.
Any thoughts on one definitely better than the other?

Thanks so much, these boards have been my holy grail while planning this trip!

Don't know for sure, but I think if it had changed, the site would have been updated. We leave in 6 days!

I've been to Arenal many times and the lava always seems to be flowing out the same side . . .

I love Arenal Lodge, and the restaurant is very good. You will also have to take a cab from Paraiso if you want to go to La Fortuna. I also like Paraiso, but the food is bad. The canopy tour at Paraiso is very good -- I highly recommend it.

the lava flow is always on the same side- unless there's another eruption of course- you cannot see it flow from la fortuna as it flows on the other side.
the best place to stay for volcano views is arenal observatory lodge, if you want to stay in la fortuna itself then i like don busco!
i've never been on a canopy tour, they knock down trees to build them and of course all the wildlife has to leave not my thing!
check out my travelblog on la fortuna linked below for more info, enjoy your trip
