costa rica itinerary

We are 3 couples that would like to explore Costa RIca for about 10 days at end of June, beginning of July 2010 (give or take a few days). We want to see animal life, have some adventure and some relaxation. We are 50-60 age group but in good shape. We want it to be a "wow" trip. We need help with an itinerary.

I would look into the oft traveled spots of Arenal and Manuel Antonio. Or if you're looking for a really "wow" place I'd suggest Bosque del Cabo on the Osa peninsula.

Second Tully's recs. Tortuguero not as good a choice unless you can be there when the turtles are nesting. That really adds a special element to time spent at Tort.

Our favorites are Tortuguero - Tortuga Lodge, Arenal - Lost Iguana, and Osa Peninsula - Bosque del Cabo. Most people only stay two nights in Tortuguero - enough to do a guided tour of the canals and a night hike out to see the turtles. July would be better for turtle viewing - June is too early.
