Did you also check Costa Verde. We stayed this last November in a Studio Plus unit. Reasonable price for a really great view.

We had the following experience:
A few years ago our family of four spent two weeks to beat the Canadian winter at the Paradisus Playa Conchal which is an upscale family resort. One day a few middle age guys arrived with a few very young and questionably looking ladies. They were loud and used the pool in an inappropriate way. My 12 year old son had a blast with his underwater goggles until we noticed.
Thank God it only happened one day only and regardless we truly enjoyed our stay in CR.

Just wanted to update that we are confirmed for Observatory Lodge in Arenal. Thanks to everyone for their input. drummindave - cool video!
andabanda - That is crazy about your experience in the hotel pool!
I am still torn between Mango Moon and La Mansion, but leaning towards Mansion because it has a private balcony.
Less than 8 months to go!!
