Costa Rica - Here's the latest on reopening

I'll start a fresh thread rather than append to the old ones we have going.

August 1 is Costa Rica's newly revised date for opening airports and land and sea ports of entry. (Tuesday, June 30 had been the target, but everybody suspected that wasn't going to happen.) That will make 4.5 months of no flights in or out, except for occasional repatriation flights.

The reopening will be very gradual with flights only from countries that have coronavirus under control. Right now, the Ministry of Health will not identify which countries those are. ICT, the Costa Rican Tourism Board, suggests that it will probably be Canada, UK, and EU citizens who will be the first to be let back in.

There will be some type of tracing mechanism to keep track of where visitors go during their stay. That might be with a phone app that gets scanned. The Ministry of Health will release details when that part of the plan is finalized.

Effective today:

Beaches are now open from 5 am-9:30 am. It had been 5 am-8 am.

Masks are required in all types of public transportation: buses, taxis, commercial vans. Masks are required inside banks.
