costa rica. " flamingo beach resort hotel "question........
does anyone know if this hotel is within walking distance to the shops and restaurants in town? if so, how long a walk (in minutes)?
The "town" such as it is, bank, couple of minimarkets, pharmacy, a few small businesses (lots of real estate) and a couple of beachwear shops is about 2-3 minutes up the road from the entrance of FBR. That walk brings you to a very steep hill and the original town begins at the base of that hill and climbs up with you, curving around to the left. There is a lot of new development now along that short walk to the base of the hill.

SHILLMAC, ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU! THERE ARE SOME RESTAURANTS IN TOWN ALSO, YES?
Marie's, between the hotel and town, is one of the best. Mar y Sol gets good reviews. In a jillion visits, we have never eaten there, but I hear it is very good. It's up on the hill in town.
The best places to eat are for sure Mar y Sol, they also opened a new sunset "tapas" lounge above Mar y Sol half price drinks from 5-6. They are both A +... In Flamingo the Mariner Inn is also pretty good. The next town away has great food too, The Happy Snapper, for the best pizza Il Forno, also in Brasilito is Outback Jacks on the water. The hotel Sugar Beach has good meals all day, but a special sunset dinner should not be missed. In Playa Grande Rip Jack Inn, and Bula Bula. For grocerys the Auto Meracado in Tamarindo and for an A+ bucher Don Fernando... Also Lolas a GREAT beach bar and for food 25 minutes south of Tamarindo this place is a HIT... Also Flamingo just opened a brand new dance club and lounge that is very classy called Baja Beach Club... Open Wed- Sunday... Good Luck

Also, don't miss Camaron Dorado in Brasilito for a sunset dinner!
thank you, both. actually we are vegetarians who eat our big meal at lunch. also, now we have a car so we can easily go to other towns. i will do another posting, but if you know some good outdoor restaurants (can be italian, mexican, asian, or any place that has tofu), please let us know.
#1 outdoor restaurant (my opinion) is Camaron Dorado at Sunset!
shillmac, is it in your top three at lunchtime..........
Haven't been there at lunchtime, only in the evening, but yes, I would eat there anytime. I wonder, though, if they are open for lunch. Surely they are. Do let us know if you try it--what you think! Sorry I overlooked your mention of eating a big lunch! :) I just get so hung up on those sunsets! :)
Oops, I certainly repeated myself a bit didn't I? Perhaps that's when it is time to call it a night! :)
