Which Westin? Guanacaste??

If you are staying at the Westin in Guanacaste, it will be a 5 hour or so drive from San Jose. You night want to consider flying into Liberia airport which is about an hour from the Westin. Then, you can stop at Rincon de la Velja volcano park and stay there for a few nights before flying back from Liberia. Or, you can go to Arenal area and stay there. We are doing a similar trip - flying into Liberia, staying at Nayara Springs for 4 nights and then at Riu Palace for 7. Roads aren't awful but they aren't exactly straight shots from place to place. Getting to the cloud forest at Monteverde is an 'experience like no other'...also called the Costa Rican car massage!

Yes, Westin guanacaste 4 nights, how far to Manuel Antonia national park from that Westin? And how are the roads? Would you suggest to con de la velha instead? Or Monteverdi cloud forest for the 2/3 nights? Any suggestions?

Manuel Antonio would be an all day drive. Better use of your time would be to go to Arenal area before heading to San Jose to return home.

Or, as lahawk suggests, fly from SJ to Liberia.

You're looking at a Minimum of 6 hours with no construction, no traffic, no stops, etc. Figure it will take you all day. Once you get off the Pan American highway around Esparza, you'll be on little two lane roads or you could look at flying from Liberia to Quepos I guess and that would put you really close to Manuel Antonio. We looked at combining Guanacast with MA and decided against it due to logistics for this trip.
