Costa Club Acapulco?
We are travelling to Acapulco in September on our honeymoon and staying at the Costa Club Acapulco. Anyone stayed there before? Also it is our first time in Mexico (travelling from rainy England) as anyone any tips or places for us to visit.

Hi Mike,
We stayed at this hotel in July last year. The hotel was probably one of the best on offer, having spoken to other people who had stayed at the Qualton or Copacabana, our hotel had the best food and the best beach. If you need any more info, e-mail me and I'll try to help. |
Mike:
You will like the Costa Club.It is very centrally located. The hotel has a unique view ,the lobby is open to the outside and again , you can stand in the lobby and look all the way up to the balconies of the rooms. The hotels are located along the nice curve of the Acapulco Bay like pearls ona necklace. The lights at night are really something to see from your ocean view room. You are on your honeymoom,so e mail them and make sure they give you a very nice ocean view room,,,which I am sure they will. The biggest and nicest shopping centre in Acapulco is right next door.!!It is very nice and air conditioned, and has 95 stores.!!! There are 4 banks within 2 blocks of the hotel, for money exchange. There is an Internet place in a small shopping mall ,right out your front door,not more than 40 feet away. One side of the hotel faces the ocean(Acapulco Bay)and the lobby and front of hotel faces the busy shopping complex areas ,which is so handy when you go strolling in the evening. The room I had on the 10th floor was ocean view. It was very nice and the bathroom was very nice. You have a free safe inthe room...easy to work. The food was good. We had 2 ala carte dinners ,for which you have to make an appoinment for. One is an Italian restaurant and the other a Steak house. The meals in both places were superb. Take the city tour, for sure, they will show you lots, and you will see the famous cliff divers(this is included in the tour). This is where the Elvis Presley movie "Fun in Acapulco "was filmed, including the cliff diving scene. In fact if you can rent the movie,there in England,then do so and you will get a small taste of the place back then. There is a great tour guide called Celso Lopez, Iwill e mail him (he and I became good friends)and if he is going to be at the Costa Club in September , then Mike I will get back to you. We also took the tour to the Silver Capital of the world called Taxco, it is an all day trip but you get ot see the countryside and many non tourist places near Acapulco. If I was going back to Acapulco, I would stay at the Costa Club again. If you have anymore question, just e mail me or ask more questions here. Have a geat trip there,I know you will enjoy it. Avergare temp should be about 85F... bye for now Percy |
Hi Mike
I just got an email from my friend in Acapulco . He is the tour coordinator at the Costa Club. If you get there, ask for Celso Lopez and mention my name( Percy Doonanco from Canada) as we are e mail pals. He will take good care of you as far as information and tours go. Percy |
Percy: Was the day trip to Taxco worth it? I understand it is a long bus ride from Acapulco. Did you get much time to sight see at Taxco?

Mike;
I enjoyed going to Taxco. It is the Silver Capital. So there is lots of silver to buy. I did not buy any. We had time towalk around the town and then we had lunch ( included) at a roof top restaurant and then we headed back to Acapulco. Along the way we stopped tosee several sites and also for a snack here and there. I saw all I wanted to of Taxco, and the country side was enjoyable also but it is a long bus ride, we got back about 7:30 PM,then had dinner at the Costa Club, showered and went to bed early. Another option is to take an all day trip(or 2days, stay over night) is to go to Ixtapa and Zihautanejo. This is a very nice tourist place (Ixtapa)and a charming Mexican town , just a few miles away( Zihautanejo). It is like 2 resorts in one. Don't forget to ask for Celso when you get to the Costa Club Also, here is what you can do. ( we did this) I went up to Celso and said, "Celso can you get me a tour guide that will just drive me all over Acapulco ,to places that tourist do not go and to just show me Acapulco,the way the Mexicans see it." Boy did I get a trip of a lifetime for about 3 1/2 hours for a cost of about $25.00 each USA.. My wife and I sat in his private car and we really saw Acapulco. Have a great time there. Percy |
