Corona Drink?

We had a drink when we were in Mexico that I am trying to find out what it was. I think we had it in Acapulco at Senior Frogs. It was basically Corona on ice with lime juice and I belive they served it with salt around the rim. Does anyone know what this is called? Thanks.

Yes, it is called "Dressing Up a Cheap Beer."

Seriously, I am a beer-crazy and Corona is high on my hit list.

Now, there's another Mexican beer that tastes great with lime and salt on a hot day and that's Tecate. This is something Mexicans have been drinking for decades.

yes, there are better Mexican beers but that wasn't what I was asking. Thanks for your input.

There is a name for it, but I can't think what it is. Another one I like is called a michelada. It is the beer of your choice, salt, red peppers, lime juice, and salt around the rim. I realy like a good one of these. I'll try to think of the name of the one are talking about.

It is my favorite, I drink it at home often....It's called a "Michelada" (meech-el-a-da) or just Chelada depending on where you are. I first had them in Mexico City, but when I ordered the same thing in Cancun, they added tabasco and pepper, so be specific.
I take a tall glass, rim with lime, salt the rim, fill with ice, squeeze about 1/2 a lime in, then fill with your favorite Mexican beer. For a darker we have have Bohemia for example, but I have had it with Sol, Modelo, Corona, etc. It helps keep you hydrated if you are outside at the pool all day drinking for example. Enjoy !

Friends we were with on one vacation (at the pool bar all day)also began to add a shot of tequila to whole thing and named it a "Make her easy". It's actually quite good if you like tequila.

Yep. That's what I was thinking of. Thanks!

Wednesdays right- I guess it is a michelada. My favorite is the one with peppers, but come to think of it, I have had it without the peppers too. My favorite beers for this are Victoria Oscura and Negra Modelo- you guys are making me thirsty.

Once again, Tecate with lime and salt.

That's the real deal.

I agree with Poppa's first comment about dressing up a cheap beer! With a Corona that is necessary!
A Michelada can be made with any beer--has nothing to do with Corona. I is usually served over ice, in a salt rimmed glass and has lime juice, worchestershire and Tabasco (or any hot sauce) added. A Chelada is only the lime juice and beer.
