COPPER CANYON, THE CALIFORNIA NATIVE

Does anyone have any info or experience with a South Calif. outfit called The California Native? I am considering an independent tour through them to Copper Canyon next month.

Any other helpfull hints...must see, don't bother, do's, don'ts.
Thanks, Bill

I haven't used them, but I have done some traveling with Caravan. Caravan does a copper canyon tour that is supposed to be great. I haven't done this particular tour though. But the tours I have taken with Caravan I will remember for a life time. Amazing!

I'm not sure where the Copper Canyon is located Bill, but this is the Latin America forum.

Have a great trip.

I apologize, Bill. The Copper Canyon is in Mexico, therefore you are on the right forum.

Have a great time in Mexico.

We used California Native for a trip to the Yucatan this past March, 2008. We found them on the net, did some research and selected them for our excursion. I had multiple discussions with them as we planned our trip. They used a Mexican group out of Merida (Transmerida) to coordinate our tour. We were very impressed, our tour was perfect. When I talked to them they said that their speciality was the Copper Canyon tour. I wouldn't hesitate to use them, based upon our Yucatan experience. Copper Canyon sounds like such a neat place.

Our" Yucatan Explorer Tour" consisted of five family members. We were it! Five of us on our private tour van. $990 each included hotels, breakfast, lunch (which was usually dinner so we didn't even eat an evening meal), admission to sites, all transportation, etc. We thought it was great! All we paid for was our bar tab! Our tour guide was Anreas Lara and he was fantastic. I would specifically request him if we were to go back, or go to another area. We wanted the "ruins tour" not a "Cancun tour". We did Talum, Coba, Ek Balam, Izmal, Merida, Uxmal, Edzna, Campeche, Chichen Itza and points in-between. Andreas was fanstastic. He was driver, tour guide, and everything inbetween. It was a different hotel every night and it worked out exactly as we had planned. The hotels weren't four star, but they were more than adequate.

We were a little worried about using a tour "agency" we knew nothing about. However, California Native was perfect for what we needed. They are indeed "legit". I plan to post a trip report very soon.

Have fun.

Has anyone done the copper canyon tour with caravan tours? Would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions

Have heard good things about Caravan but have never used them.
I am looking for information about other escorted tour companies anyone could recommend for the Copper Canyon --- some I have heard of are Collette, Globus, Tauck, Trafalgar, etc. Is November too late to go? Thanks for help

I took the Caravan tour of Copper Canyon in May '07 and loved it. It was for just 1 week beginning in El Paso. The guide was knowledgeable, articulate, personable and very well-organized. I had never used Caravan before but definitely would again. And you can't beat the price. Tauck does a similar trip at much more money and stays at mostly the same places. When our trip ended in El Paso, we flew to San Antonio and spent a few days there - what fun!
