Copper Canyon

We will be visiting the Copper Canyon in late October. Wondering if Dia De Los Muertos is celebrated by the people who live there. I am pretty sure we will be on the canyon floor by Nov 1.

Any other hints for getting the most out of the trip will be appreciated. Plan is to take the train along the rim for the first two or three days, then descend to the bottom of the canyon for the next four or five days.

Yes, people in the canyons celebrate Dias de los Muertos and you'll see candy calaveras (skulls) for sale, maybe some altars to loved ones set up in plazas.

The scenery from the train is best traveling west to east (Los Mochis towards Chihuahua). You can access towns on the canyon floors from Bahuichivo (to Urique) or from Creel (to Batopilas). Out of Creel you can take day trips to waterfalls, a lake, viewpoints over the canyons.
