Clean/inexpensive Monteverde Hotel?

Since Monteverde isn't considered a day trip from Papagayo, is there a clean, inexpensive hotel someone could recommend for an overnighter in the cloud forest?
Would it be possible to leave Papagayo early morning, do a tour or something late afternoon, sleep, get up, do another tour after breakfast then be back to Papagayo by 6pm? Also, can someone recommend a private driver to do all the driving? Thanks everyone! I too have grown addicted to this website. We will be there Sunday May 30 for 9 days.

Quantum,
Where are you staying at Papagayo? There are tour companies (Swiss Travel is one that we have used) at most of the All-Inclusive hotels on the Papagayo Peninsula that offer overnight tours to Monteverde. Is this a possibility for you? It would be very convenient not to have to plan your own travel and hotel arrangements.

Thanks for the info shillmac. I knew I could arrange tours through our hotel, but I guess I was wanting recommends / suggestions for a clean room in the middle of the cloud forest. So, that I could compare to where my concierge wants to send me. Just like to be informed about whats being offered. Plus, I would rather use a private guide versus going with a large group. And, was wondering which guides would do the trip.
On another note, when using a private driver, can you leave items such as dry clothes etc. in their vehicle while on say a zip line tour or any of the tours or do you have to carry everything with you? Hope this all sounds ok, I'm not the best writer in the world. Thanks for everyones help.

What do you consider inexpensive?

Quantum, check out Hotel El Sapo Dorado--haven't stayed there, but it has gotten good reviews for its location. If you hire a private driver, certainly they will help you keep your belongings safe. We have been on tours, both large and small, and always have felt comfortable leaving some of our things on the bus. It is locked and the driver stays near. We have observed this practice among Interbus drivers as well. It is reasonable to think a private driver would do the same.
